Message from the Head of Boarding
The traditional schooling world is made up of two kinds of pupils; those who are boarders and those who are day-scholars. I believe it is fair to say that boarders constitute the very heartbeat of any school and indeed, the very atmosphere that pervades a school is richer for the presence of a boarding establishment.
Drakensberg Boys Choir School is one of those rare schools where virtually all the boys, with a few exceptions, board. Boarding schools have come a long way since the dark days of Dickens’ Oliver Twist, and while we can never hope to replace a boy’s loving home, we strive to provide a happy, safe, stable, and encouraging environment where friendships thrive, independence flourishes and learning takes place.
The glorious surrounds and the opportunities to connect with the majestic beauty of our landscape affect young and old alike; all of us blessed by God’s creation and the beauty of young choral voices soaring into the surrounding hills every day.
